MEET OUR GOVERNORS

Miriam Philpott

I have lived in Whittlesey since 2004.  I was elected as a Parent Governor for New Road School in September 2015.  I am a full time mum and my husband and I have three children who are all pupils at the school. I value the challenge and opportunity to be involved in helping the school to provide the best education for all the children who attend in these key, formative years of primary education.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing the piano and spending time with friends and family.

Chair of Governors

Rachael Bartlett

I moved to Whittlesey in 2008 my husband and I run a local business we have two children who attend New Road School.  I became a parent governor in September 2015 to have the opportunity to make a difference. I find it a rewarding way to be involved in my children's school, I also bring the parents perspective by approaching every issue with the question "What do I as a parent think about this? What would other parents think about this?

Our first daughter started at New Road School in 2007, and we have had a care and interest in the school since that time. Our two younger children are still in Key Stage 2.   As a full time mum who volunteers in school and at our church, I wanted to use my time constructively for the good of the school, it's pupils and staff. Being active on the Friends of New Road PTA enables me to work with parents and staff and be further involved in the life of the school. I have been a governor since Autumn 2013.

Corinne Whitehand

After training as a Primary School teacher, I taught in Hampshire for ten years and then returned to my home town of Whittlesey, where I taught here at New Road for many happy years. I was the teacher governor and became a co-opted governor when I retired three years ago, thus continuing my whole hearted support for the school. Both my children attended New Road, where they enjoyed a wide variety of educational experiences in a friendly and caring atmosphere, which continues to this day. I know there are exciting opportunities ahead for the pupils at New Road School and as a Governor I am looking forward to being part of this journey.
