Headteacher Weekly Newsletter

Mr Litten will be writing a weekly newsletter, with the aim to share with you all that is good about our school and its children.

Dear Parents, pupils, and staff,

What a wet, dreary week - that said a bit of bad weather does not dampen our spirits! We have had an amazing week of learning and getting the very most out of each day whatever the weather!

One of the most important outcomes of the visit was the children’s growing appreciation of their community.

At just four and five years old, developing a sense of belonging is a powerful part of their personal, social, and emotional learning. By exploring real places that hold significance for local people, pupils began to connect the idea of “home” with community, identity, and shared history.

Above all, the visit has helped our youngest learners begin to understand the special place they live in—a town with a long history, a strong sense of community, and a future they are very much a part of.

Heritage at the Butter Cross

This week, our Reception children stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of their community as they visited the historic Butter Cross in Whittlesey. The trip was filled with curiosity, excitement, and a growing sense of pride as pupils began to understand more about the town they belong to and call home.

Standing proudly in the Market Square, the Butter Cross is one of Whittlesey’s most recognisable landmarks. With great enthusiasm, the children stood beneath its wooden beams, imagining the bustling market that once surrounded them.
